Trading Assistant Services (I want to sell my stuff on Ebay, what do I do?)

How does it work?

I pick up your items (free pickup within Liberty, MO) and do everything related to listing them on Ebay to sell.  I take pictures, write descriptions, answer potential buyer's questions, and complete the sale.  After it is sold, I collect payment and ship the item.  Basically, everything is done for you.  I charge a sliding scale commission based on the sale price of the item (or items if they are grouped together in one listing).  This commission, along with any eBay/Paypal fees incurred from your listing, will be deducted from the sale price.  I use a contract to outline my responsibilities, as well as the consignor's committments to me.

How do I know if my item will sell?

I will give you my best advice on whether something is worth selling on eBay.  Many times, if you have access to a computer, you can make a judgement by doing a search on eBay for your item.  If you have ever bought or sold anything on eBay, you know it can be a gamble so if you have something you have a minimum price you would like out of it, you need to specify that before it is listed.  We will discuss all this before your listings are made.  You must keep in mind that I cannot guarantee your item will sell.  I also reserve the right to not list an item.

What if I have a minimum price?

There are two ways to go about insuring a minimum price.  One is to set a Reserve Price (the item will not sell unless it goes over this price).  There is a small fee related to setting a Reserve Price which is refunded if the item sells.  The other is to start the bidding for your item at the minimum price.  This can be useful but can also deter buyers who may shy away from bidding on an auction that starts "high".

What if my item doesn't sell?

Some trading assistants (especially store-front franchise ones) charge a base fee whether your item sells or not.  I do not.  If your item doesn't sell, you are responsible for the eBay fees that I incurred to list it.  That's it.  Once those fees are paid to me, your item will be returned to you or available for pickup.  Some of my clients prefer to donate their unsold items rather than have them returned.  In those cases, I donate them to local charities.

How much will I make on my items?

It varies greatly depending on the starting price, selling price, number of pictures, and payment method.  Please see below for some examples.

If my item sells do I have to pay for shipping it?  And how do I get my money?

Once the item sells and I have received cleared payment, I will ship the item (the buyer pays the shipping costs) and I will write you a check for your proceeds.

What if my item is big and bulky and wouldn't ship well?

We can explore local sites such as Craig's List for your bulky items.

Ok, I've decided I want you to sell my items for me.  What do I do next?

 Examples of Client Payouts
Because it is hard to know how much you will get as proceeds from a sale, I have listed some real life examples of items I have sold for people and what their payout was for that item.  This is just a guideline, your item may bring a different price or incur different fees.

These are just examples to give you an idea of how the fees may affect the payout.  I accept checks, money orders, and Paypal as payment.  While fees are incurred when a buyer uses Paypal, it also increases the number of bids.  Therefore, I will not exclude it as a payment option when listing.
